These are actually tennis courts, not obvious from the picture, but that's what made me think of the title. Works anyway, I think - a lot of urban kids spend most of their time playing on asphalt or concrete playgrounds instead of grass. The fact that this one is painted green seems to be making the point...
Note: I looked at the picture the day after and thought the colors were oversaturated, so I dialed it down a bit...
Great composition and color! Not sure if I like it better as is or if I'd like it better with kids playing?
ReplyDeleteGood work on the composition and I like the reflections of the buildings on the hard grass. I love people being in my shots but I think this shot looks great with out people. Its cool that you go out in all kinds of weather... Im enjoying seeing my hometown through your eyes. I miss NYC!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice composition. Love the subtle reflections of the fence and buildings in the wet surface.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDeleteI like the stark emptiness of a playground, especially on a rainy day. It's has a certain emotional impact, I think. With people it would be a different picture, not better or worse, just different, and worthy in its own right.
Plus it's hard to get kids out there on a rainy day :-)
How often do you get back here, Gerry?
I haven't been back home in over a year now Mike. It may be another year before I do get back... but when I do.. we have to spend at least an afternoon walking and taking photos.
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to it...
