Pretty amazing little fountain, just look at it for a minute...
Too bad it isn't running, I don't think anyone lives at the property (for sale) at the moment. It's in a little yard next to the Pumpkin House on 186th Street.
That is a lovely little statue... black and white works superbly for this sort of thing. It could have easily got itself camouflaged in the green foliage, but you have positioned it well to keep the dark area directly behind it, resulting in good contrasting.
(Im going to try to find some little statues now)
Maybe you will get a chance to capture it in working mode one day.
Thanks Bill, I will definitely return to this as a subject, I want to play around with larger apertures (some of the elements behind the statue are too distracting at full size) and different light and so on. The face (in the eyes) is amazingly lifelike, to me, so I will focus in on that at as well.
You could try isolating the face with a bigger aperture, but I think the background adds to this particular image, as she is sort of 'forest fairy' or 'babes in the wood' style of sculture.
I would like to see a close up of the face though, I like the texture of weathered stone.
