21 Chittenden

21 Chittenden

Sun was out again today, so I went out at the late in the day and found this building on Chittenden Avenue, which overlooks the Hudson and Palisades, and gets that warm late afternoon glow. Somehow I didn't position myself properly to get a symmetrical composition, but the building is oddly asymmetrical from base to top and I didn't notice it until I viewed the images on the computer - my eyes aren't getting any younger. And I actually kinda like the off-center composition, which leaves in some of those urban elements.

  1. Nice light and composition. I'm a fan of photographing windows. They often offer nice architectural lines. The beautiful sunshine on these windows and the contrast of the blue sky with the bricks is pleasing. Also like the little bit of shadow you've got from the railing :)

  2. Thanks Cheryl! I would like the shadows to be much stronger, but I'll have to try again later in the fall or winter when the sun is lower in the sky...

  3. Very good image of some very pleasing and simple architecture. Perfect colours to me. Actually reminds me of the building I live, especially with the arch windows. I like the small vent arch detail (an artistic touch to a detail which could have been square). The window boxes of flowers suggest a happy home too.

  4. Thanks Bill, you frequently find these quaint little old buildings sandwiched between two modern, ugly buildings, as in this case.
