Halloween Tree & Stairs

Halloween Tree

Into the Darkness

Fear of the dark, the unknown, fear of death, and denial of death. Or as my kids would say, it's all about the candy. But really, they enjoy the fear part too.

  1. Great grim shots. The form and the darkness of the subjects add very much to this atmosphere. Well done again Micheal.

  2. I love the dark tone of these photos. They really do have a spooky atmosphere. The subjects add to the spookiness. It looks as though there is someone or something waiting at the top of the stairs.

  3. Great Tree of Fright photo! And the stairway certainly looks foreboding enough to cause one to think twice before venturing up. The image could be a still from Hitchcock or a film noir - very effective in creating that mood.

  4. Thanks for the comments! This was my contribution to the photo club at my school - shoot something having to do with Halloween. I knew I wanted to do something more abstractly about fear and the tree just appeared in my field of view out on a walk looking for other things - serendipity. I originally envisioned having Slender Man at the top of the stairs shot but couldn't coordinate it with my son (he's doing a Slender Man video of his own).

  5. The steps are my favourite. They remind me of Scary parts of old London and all at those dark Dickensian images at books l read as a Student.
