East River Bridges

Manhattan Bridge. maybe the first in a series. My bike path around Manhattan takes me past several East River crossings, and it occurred to me how odd it is that there's only one bridge crossing on the west side of Manhattan across the Hudson (the George Washington Bridge, which I have shot extensively).

  1. What a photo... lovely. The bridge is huge.

  2. The principles for modern bridgemaking are clearly to see in this bridge. Only the steel is now mostly concrete. Only the cables are from steel now and even that can become carbon wires. Pity that this style isn't used anymore. Great shot.

  3. Impressive construction, and a great shot. The composition shows how huge it is.
