Bill - I thought of that, and the spelling isn't an issue - the missing article feels like an error rather than intentional irony. But who knows...The tree is a London plane, a hybrid of oriental plane and American sycamore.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platanus_x_acerifolia
