Conrad's

Conrad's

The other side of the beauty in upstate New York. Conrad was Elaine de Kooning's brother. He still lived in this little house up until a few short years ago. He passed away in 2009.

  1. I love photographing old homes.... Is this one off a main drag? Nice contrast ... The crop is a little too tight for me, I would have liked to have seen the upper level more and the reflection in the window looks great, but its a good shots over all

  2. I agree about the crop - I was for some reason in "shoot & run" mode again and this was the only shot I took - it should be one in a series, perhaps. It is on a little dirt road but yes, right off the road. I'm up there a few times per year, so I can return to it later...

  3. Crops are always debatable. I often struggle with the exact crop position. It all depends on what you want to convey.

You have captured the ramshackle appearence very well. I quite like abandoned buildings... they suggest a somewhat sad story. The B&W is well contrasted, and suits the style of building.
