I know, there aren't enough flower pictures in the world, but I was at the Botanical Gardens today and what are you gonna do? It rained the whole time and was not a particularly productive outing. I almost posted this one as B&W but finally decided on the color. I'll regret it soon enough - eh, what the heck, I'll just post both.
Ha Micheal. I love the color one, a real Gatton so to speak. The black and white I don't know perhaps a little more contrast between the water and the leaves. You was not sure yourself I guess by placing them both.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with S.C. The B&W works okay, but colour is the winner!
ReplyDeleteI like the fact you can see the inky quality of the water in both the B&W and color versions along with the concentric ripples and bubbles(?). Personally, I love B&W but opt for color since I feel so much information is somehow lost without the color in many cases. When B&W is done well it's hard to argue one is "better" - it's obviously a matter of personal choice. The green of the lilies and the beautiful shade of pink in the flower do have an impact that make it hard for differences in shades of grey to compete, when set side by side.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, all valid comments on the color vs b&w. The water has an additive to make it dark - I assume that's to cut down on algal growth, or maybe just to give the illusion of depth and hide the underwater pots that the plants grow in.
