A public school ("PS") in upper Manhattan. PS also designates that it is an elementary school (usually K-5 or K-6) as opposed to an "IS" (intermediate school, usually grades 6-8) or an "HS" (high school, grades 9-12). Of course the grade ranges are somewhat variable.
I like the architectural style. I am not sure of the age though.. looks 70s maybe 80s... although it could be far newer. UK and US architecture is so different in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe windows seem more modern... maybe a recent refit.
Great shot anyway. I like the angle and the crisp bold contrast.
Another dramatic architectural shot from Michael. The style is sort of fitting for an elementary school with its building block look…and the angle suggests a rather queasy sense of precariousness that it might topple at any moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, the building is from the late 90s. It's quite colorful, but not necessarily in a pleasing sort of way. I may try to shoot it again in color, but I would really need to be on a roof shooting down to give a good sense of the place - it's got a lot of angles and painted metal gates, railings, stairwells, and so on.
